Nothing captures a moment, brings to life a memory, or expresses hidden emotions other than music. The one who listens to music comes to understand what it is to be alive, yet the one who makes music gets to create life over and over again. To get to do both is a spiritual pinnacle many search for. Tyler Brandon is one of the sacred few who is honored to scale such a pinnacle, holding both an appreciation for music and the ability to compose from the heart.

From a young age Tyler has been a lover of music, anointed with the desire to spread the joy of music with people of all ages and backgrounds. His academic endeavors have not wavered in gaining him knowledge and expertise experience,  thus strengthening his fluency in music composition and interpretation.  He holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from South Alabama, where he studied under Greg Gruner and David Durant.  He also holds a Master of Music in Music Theory and Composition from University of Southern Mississippi, where he studied with  Luigi Zaninelli, a student of Gian Carlo Menotti.  He has also completed various studies in composition, film scoring, and scoring for interactive media through Berklee College of Music Online.

Tyler holds a confidence to stand amongst the classical elites in the world. Having been selected by the University of South Alabama to honor the late president of the university, and to celebrate the bell tower located on campus, Tyler composed Moulton Tower Suite and Moulton Fanfare. The magnitude of this accomplishment propelled him further in his endeavor to not just create music that inspires, but to baptize the listener in a sea of beauty, unleashing an appreciation for the simple melodies found in life.

Currently Tyler teaches elementary music to Pre-K through third grade students in his hometown of Long Beach, MS, alongside giving private low brass and composition lessons locally. His main joy is sharing music with the younger generation, establishing early on the importance of music, music theory, and composition. The intersection of his love of music and people can be found in the center of his teaching with each student he encounters.  Tyler's music focuses on capturing the essence of place and community.  His music is generally non-functional in nature, but written as to be accessible to a wide variety of audiences.  He also works with traditional, functional harmonic material as well.

Like a chef in search of new ingredient or a painter looking for a new hue, Tyler can be found expanding his musical gift through hiking and outdoor exploration, quality time with family, getting lost in Star Trek sagas, and indulging in Irish folk music.

It is hard to say what life will beckon next, but it can be put in stone that Tyler Brandon and music will never be separated, both working as one to minister the joys of music wherever the road takes them.
